Málaga
Malaga is the gateway to the Costa del Sol, and up until recently overlooked as a place to actually buy a home, invest or even visit. It is a city on the up with articles in the New York Times stating ‘It’s a must to visit’. The birthplace of Pablo Picasso and Antonio Banderas, this city of 600,000 inhabitants is transforming into a dynamic city full of life, adventure, and culture, with a grand plan in place for its continued development.
The opening of Gran Hotel Miramar in Malagueta, the first 5 star Gran Luxe Hotel in Malaga speaks volumes of the direction this city is taking. Art and Culture is at the centre for the continued growth, with Carmen Thyssen Museum and the Centre Pompidou Malaga, the first of its kind outside of France, taking centre stage. The construction industry is also getting a foothold, with brand new villas being built in the leafy area of Pedregalejo, and several contemporary apartment complexes in Malaga city centre well under way. Malaga is changing, and this will long continue making it one of the most demanded cities in Spain for real estate.
The investment opportunities in Malaga must definitely be considered, and those looking for a home, or second home in a city, it just cannot be overlooked. The eastern part of the City, El Palo has retained much of its Spanish fishing village charm, and is a 15 minute bus ride to the centre, so Malaga really has variety to offer.
Members of Marley Properties Marbella’s staff have spent considerable time in Malaga City, and we highly recommend it for all age groups. There are entertainment and gastronomy options to suit all tastes, not least in its newly redeveloped port. It even has its own ‘Malaga Eye’ Ferris wheel, reaching 100 metres in height. These new Malaga developments and structures contrast against the diverse historical architecture, with its high vaulted ceiling apartments, and renovated buildings offering high end homes for sale.
This is a place that must be considered by those looking to purchase on the Costa Del Sol, especially those looking for the buzz of city life, a La Liga football team to support, or a solid investment on the Costa Del Sol in terms of rentals and appreciation. A must see! If you do consider Malaga, you must know that the locals are warmly referred to as ‘Boquerones’ – Anchovies.
