Manilva & La Duquesa

One of the most charming aspects of Manilva, is that there is a refreshing lack of sky-scraper style constructions, which is in part thanks to the town hall wanting to protect the natural and visual integrity of the area. Manilva is in a prime location on the Costa del Sol and has a fascinating history which dates back to Roman times. It consists of several communities – the coastal town San Luis de Sabinillas, attractive Duquesa Port and just a few kilometres inland the white village of Manilva itself.

Manilva is the most western municipality of Malaga and it is bordered by San Roque and Sotogrande to the west and by Casares and Estepona to the east. It has eight kilometres of sandy wide beaches and beautiful countryside that invites you to rest and breathe peace.

Nestled half way between Marbella and Sotogrande is one of the most beautiful marinas on the Costa del Sol – La Duquesa. It is a lively community with a marina used by leisure craft that attracts residents and tourists of all ages and nationalities.

The beautiful Duquesa port offers full Marina services for sailors as well as a great selection of attractions for those who prefer to stay on land. The attractive promenades around Duquesa Port offer a variety of restaurants, busy bars and cafes to enjoy al fresco dining. The vast options of eating out in Duquesa include French, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Indian and of course a great selection of Spanish tapas bars. All this makes La Duquesa an ideal balance of relaxed living with easy access to every imaginable amenity.

Within a short walk to the west from the Port La Duquesa you will find one of the most important monuments of Manilva – El Castillo de la Duquesa. It was built in 1767, in the ancient Roman Town, to defend the coast from pirate invasions and is now frequently used for local exhibitions.

It is also a fantastic place for golf lovers. Within a very short drive you can find a range of top Costa del Sol golf courses – world famous Finca Cortesin, Valle Romano, Estepona Golf, and many more. Those who like spending time outdoors will feel right at home here.

There is a large and fast growing expat community around the Manilva area and every year more people select Manilva and La Duquesa as an ideal location for their holiday home on the Costa del Sol. There is no doubt that Manilva and La Duquesa port are fast becoming one of the most requested areas on the Costa del Sol.
